New expansion nodes co-exist with the previous generation Teradata platform used by Publix

Teradata Corporation has announced that Publix Super Markets, a supermarket chain, has expanded its Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse to accommodate growth and more complex analytics. The upgrade moves the data warehouse functionality beyond traditional strategic analysis and into tactical operational intelligence for smarter, faster decisions.

According to Teradata, the expansion includes the Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse platform, database software and services. The new expansion nodes co-exist with the previous generation Teradata platform used by Publix, protecting the company's original technology investment. The system supports Teradata data-mining software which enables Publix to gain more complete insight into operational detail, said Teradata.

Ed Dupee, vice president of retail solutions for Teradata, said: "Retailers must rapidly analyze and interpret sales trends, optimize supply and demand chains, and make informed buying decisions to remain competitive. Teradata retail industry solutions offer fast access to detailed intelligence, integrate easily into existing environments and allow use of third-party applications, or applications developed in-house. The higher performance of the newly expanded platform will accelerate insight to business users."
